New console coming from Project Cars developer
The Mad Box from Slightly Mad Studios is expected in a few years, will feature 4K gaming and high-end PC performance
The developer of Project Cars probably isn’t the first company gamers would expect to see making a game console, but it’s happening.
That’s according to a series of tweets and announcements from Slightly Mad Studios CEO Ian Bell over the last several days.
Bell said the console will support most VR headsets, offer 4K resolutions, 90 frames per second for each eye for VR gaming and more.
Bell told Variety that the console will also wirelessly communicate with other Mad Box machines and that it’s a real console as opposed to being a PC, but he did not clarify on what those statements meant.
Bell also said that the console is expected to launch about three years from now.
Bell was also quoted as saying the pricing for the console would be competitive with next-generation systems, presumably in reference to the PlayStation 5 and the next Xbox.
Slightly Mad Studios is best known for Project Cars, which released in 2015 and its 2017 follow-up Project Cars 2 as well as games like Need for Speed: Shift in 2009.
