Nintendo announces Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon coming to 3DS
The games will arrive on the handheld system this fall just in time for the holidays
According to Nintendo’s Nintendo Direct this morning, Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon will be coming to 3DS this holiday season.
The games will launch simultaneously, as is the standard for Pokémon games, and will include a new feature called Pokémon Bank that allows players to move Pokémon from Red, Yellow, Blue (all three are coming to the eShop tomorrow), Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire and X and Y to the new games.
Tomorrow is not only the release date for Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow on the 3DS eShop, it is the 20th anniversary of Pokémon’s Japanese debut.
In addition to the release of the classic games, Nintendo is celebrating with a party event in Los Angeles hosted by Drew Barrymore and a 24-hour livestream on Twitch featuring discussions of the series’ impact on the world as well as gameplay and other fun activities.
Nintendo is also bringing a new Pokémon fighting game to the Wii U in March called Pokken Tournament.
