Nintendo legend passes away at age of 85

The world bids farewell to Hiroshi Yamauchi
Hiroshi Yamauchi died today at 85.
Multiple gaming sites all over the web reported the news and mourned the legendary Nintendo genius.
Yamauchi was the man responsible for many of Nintendo’s major innovations including the transition that took the company from making toys and card games into the gaming industry.
According to Joystiq, Yamauchi was with the company from 1949 to 2002 and continued being active in the company’s internal workings after retirement. He was also the company’s largest shareholder and at one point, during the success of the Wii, was worth almost $8 billion.
IGN posted a video discussing some of the history Yamauchi had with the company over the time he was in charge.
