Rocket League was offered on PlayStation Plus as part of July’s Instant Game Collection and according to the game’s official Facebook page, it has been downloaded over five million times across PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam.
Now, with the 1.04 update, a new arena has been added to the game. The Utopia Coliseum was added to the game for free via the patch as well as trophies for the map and trophies for a new DLC pack. The Supersonic Fury DLC pack released today for $3.99 and consists of two new cars and a host of customization options.
The pack includes, “…the over-the-top American muscle car Dominus, and the souped-up Japanese street racer Takumi,” according to a post at the PlayStation Blog by Jeremy Dunham, Vice President of Psyonix, the game’s developer. “Both of these vehicles offer six different Decals for Garage customization (12 total) and are only available for play in the DLC. Besides the new Battle-Cars, the DLC Pack also includes two all-new Rocket Boosts (“Nitrous” and “Burnout”), two new wheel sets (the soccer ball themed “Cristiano” and the very-cool “Spinner” set), five all-new Paint Types (“Brushed Metal,” “Carbon Fiber,” “Metallic Pearl,” “Pearlescent,” and “Wood”), and a handful of new Trophies.”
In addition, the patch added spectator mode, 70 new country flags, a new song and updated explosions for goals and demolitions. The blog post also mentioned that a host of free and paid DLC is planned for the future. Polygon recently reported that Rocket League will be coming to other platforms as well.
