Welcome to Sac City Gamer

The first post of many
My name is Daniel Wilson and I’m a long-time gamer. In fact, I’ve been gaming since I was around the age of three.
The Atari 2600 was the first gaming system I played, but the first system that was truly mine was the PlayStation when I was in middle school.
In high school, I was on the River City Review newspaper staff all four years. I was the News Editor my junior year and the Editor in Chief my senior year. After high school, I struggled with what I wanted to do with my life. I love writing, but I also love pro wrestling, video games, rap music and many other things in which aren’t exactly easy to find careers.
It wasn’t until 2010, when I went back to school at Sacramento City College, that I realized my passions and my talents could coexist in the world of gaming journalism. I don’t know why it wasn’t obvious to me before, but for some reason it took me approximately 24 years to decide what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I’m 26 now, and as the Online Managing Editor for the Sac City Express, I’ve been fortunate enough to find myself in a journalism program that not only has taught me more than I could have ever imagined, allowed me to work with some of the best advisers and fellow journalists in existence, but has allowed me to reach for the stars when it comes to my goal of one day working in the world of gaming journalism.
In addition to three game reviews I wrote for the Sac City Express in the fall of 2011, this blog will be my outlet for that goal. I plan to talk about my love for all things gaming—more specifically wrestling and racing games—and my thoughts on the industry and its future. I’ll be posting game reviews, and thoughts on current events and news in gaming.
I look forward to hearing feedback from readers, and hope I can provide a fun, light-hearted and informative gaming blog for everyone that reads my blog. So, welcome to the Sac City Gamer.
